Room for more growth
A new production facility and warehouse was put into operation by menzerna polishing compounds GmbH & Co. KG in Ötigheim in May. “This facility is an important prerequisite for the company’s further growth,” said Managing Director Dr. Tilo Franz. “Space is now freed up in the existing hall and being used for additional equipment and a more efficient flow of materials. This means we will be able to meet the needs of our customers in terms of productivity and speed going forward,” Franz explains.
Menzerna specialises in the development and production of industrial polishing agents and the development of polishing processes. 50 tons of polishing pastes will soon be sent over the ramps of the new warehouse every day as piece goods and in overseas containers to customers all over the world. The sales of the Menzerna Group exceeded EUR 20 million in 2016, with exports accounting for 70 per cent of this figure.
The new warehouse has a capacity for 3,000 pallets and bulk containers. This brings the total area used at the Ötigheim location to 15,000 m2. Transport links were established between the new facility and the existing hall. All preparations were made as well so the new warehouse can be retrofitted as a production hall in the shortest possible time. The long-term building development plan also calls for a further expansion with another hall of the same size as the one that was just opened.
“With energy-saving LED lamps, automatic brightness control and the link to our combined heat and power plant, we are energy efficiency leaders with the new building,” says Technical Manager Dieter Mas. Menzerna also made the strategic decision to obtain additional space by purchasing a neighbouring property, which is already being used in part to establish a storage area for bulk containers. “The Ötigheim location therefore offers us sufficient space for growth in the medium and long term,” says Mas.
Menzerna’s steady growth is creating additional qualified jobs as well. The group has more than 70 employees in the meantime. Over the last two years the laboratory team, sales and application technology were reinforced at the Ötigheim location. To safeguard the company’s development as an innovative and successful industrial polishing specialist, Menzerna among other things trains business economists, industrial engineers and chemical laboratory workers, and is always looking for suitable employees in all areas.
